Ingredients

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 extra large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons boiling hot full cream milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 rounded teaspoon baking powder

Method:

  • Sift flour and baking powder together
  • Whip whites of eggs stiffly then gradually beat in the sugar
  • Add yolks of eggs and vanilla essence
  • Melt butter in the hot milk, then add flour, butter and milk mixture alternately to egg whites and sugar mixture
  • Bake in two layer pans for about 18 to 20 minutes in 375° oven
