Adding garlic

When a recipe calls for adding oil, garlic and onions to a pan, add the garlic last. This prevents burning and a bitter taste.

Separate eggs

Instead of using buttermilk, you can add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to 1 cup of milk, then let it stand for 5 minutes before using.
